It is already April, how time flies!
We have been having people contact us for Wooden shipping crates. We have a customer that asked, “How to build a wooden shipping crate”. It was for a plotter with wheels. We sat down and talked about the best way to build a wooden shipping crate.
To start we need to have a ¾ plywood base that is forkable. The base is made from ¾ plywood and 2×4 framed on the bottom to make it able to be picked up with a forklift. We will be making the sides out of 3/8 plywood that is framed by 1×4. The 1×4 help the side be more stable. We will make all the sides and the top and bring everything to the facility where it will be shipped from.
We will be at the facility and get everything ready for crating. The plotter will be lifted onto the base where it will be blocked into place, so then it will not move around. Once we have it blocked, they will wrap the machine with plastic wrap and then wrap it with a bubble to protect the machine. It is then metal banded onto the base to secure it does not move. They will then put the sides on and nail or screw the top on. Nailing or using screws are both used it is depending on how the customer wants it.
