“I have a piece of equipment that I need to ship overseas? What do I need to have to best protect my equipment?”
We can help you with that question!
Here at Industrial Crating Pack & Services we know when to use a vapor barrier with insulation. We use a product called Mil-b. Mil-b is a foil barrier material. Where very low oxygen and moisture levels are required. This is a military used product that is cost-effective and strong. Shipping overseas there is always a chance that the container can get wet. This material helps keep this dry and prevent water damage.
The way we make a bag for the equipment is, the equipment is measured. The bag is formed by sealing 4-foot sections together to create the size of sheet to create the bag. The item is placed on the sheet then desiccant is added on the base according to the volume of the bag. The sheet is pulled over the item sealed on one side, then sealed up both ends leaving a small hole to vacuum out the air. When air is gone the bag is sealed. Having the bag sealed with the desiccant is water and moisture proof.
Desiccants, is a hygroscopic substance that is used to induce or sustain a state of dryness they are filled with material that absorbs moisture. We use this when mil-b is used this helps keep the equipment dry if any moisture was inside of the bag. We know when to use a vapor barrier with insulation for any of the jobs we do. Vapor barrier is used for different things like:
Heavy machinery
Military equipment
Medical equipment
Precious metal
Etc.
When do you use a vapor barrier with insulation?
You use vapor barrier when you are shipping overseas with equipment that you do not want to get wet or if anything will rust on the equipment. You may want to use a vapor barrier shipping to a humid state, or if something is stored outdoors that you do not want to get damaged by the elements. Vapor Barrier protect against corrosive damage caused by humidity, moisture, oxygen, salt spray, aromas, grease and other airborne contaminants.
Vapor barrier is customizable. You can make it as big as you need or in any shape that you need. The vapor barrier will shirk to the size of the equipment when the air is removed from the bag. Then you continue to crate around the equipment.
